Hello Nadeem, great insight on the benefits of guest blogging. I am also using this method to build up my traffic. But sometimes some blog owners are taking advantage of this method by charging some fees on every article that you post. Which I find very annoying sometimes but I do understand that they need it for the support for their hosting services.
Money gets involved usually when webmasters sense that you are working for your client (and then they decide to get a part of the share).
In most cases if you are only linking to sites that you own/run in your blog posts, webmasters wont ask for paid publications.

Making backlinks via blog commenting isn’t bad but such backlinks have now degraded value. Don’t just focus one thing when making backlinks!
Diversify your effort. Submit your posts to reddit, mixx, stumbleupon and other social bookmarking sites, submit posts to techspy, n4g, bizsugar like aggregator networks etc, do guest posting, do blog commenting, do forum postings, do a bit of profile spam etc. Just don’t OVERDO a single thing!
I have recently opened a New blog and was Planning to start Guest Blogging after I get a good Traffic but when I have started Getting Traffic I read a Post at Problogger that Guest Blogging Websites are Going to get Penalized by Google, I cannot understand What to Do? I mean I certainly do not want Google to take any action but a Do want to Create a Good network among bloggers which cannot be done Without opening Guest Blogging section
Just do things intelligently, like mention author bio, gravatar image and don’t write anywhere that its a ‘guest post’. Also don’t make a ‘guest posts’ page on your blog, make something like ‘contribute’ etc and don’t mention in that page that you can place backlinks (don’t openly show Google that you are letting people embed links).
Remember, Google is only penalizing spammy guest posting sites which have totally unrelated articles!

One of the time consuming method to get good rankings in search engines. I don’t remember when I did a guest post for my blogs.
And I have heard some rumors that blog owners who regularly accept guest posts rather than writing on their own, will get their blog penalized by Google. Is that right?
Google is going to penalize low quality guest posting sites (that accept unrelated articles with unrelated links and with no author info or authorship markup).
If you are accepting relevant good quality posts from authors that have proper author bios and authorhip markups then there is no issue in accepting guest posts !
