Facebook Fanpage Customization: How To Add An RSS Tab?

Facebook-Fanpage-Customization

I recently wrote a post on Facebook fanpage customization where I demonstrated how to add a Twitter tab to a Facebook fanpage. The post also has a demonstration video, so don’t forget to check it out.

Now its time for another Facebook fanpage tutorial. This is about adding an RSS feed tab to your Facebook fanpage.

Integrating your blog’s RSS feeds to your Facebook fanpage is a nice addition and helps your fanpage visitors to know more about your blog.

Here are a couple of screenshots that show the tab in action.

Don’t worry that if you dump your entire blog (as RSS) in your Facebook fanpage then visitors won’t come to your blog.

In fact after installing the tab on my Facebook fanpage, I found that the traffic from Facebook got a significant boost.

This is because, once your Facebook fanpage visitors are inside the RSS tab, they’ll not only see your posts (in full or partial, depending upon your feed set up), but will also see the link to your blog, the original blog post and link to your blog again at the end of the feed item as “source” (as shown in the figure above).

So if your content is catchy and worthy people will surely click through your links!

In my opinion this tab gives your Facebook fanpage visitors a pinch of the feeling about your blog. Its totally worth it.

I’ve made a video on how to add this tab on your Facebook fanpage. Let me know how it goes.

RSS tab on Facebook Fanpage

I personally find that this tab is a cool addition to any Facebook fanpage, since within days of using it, I’m really seeing some good results from Facebook. Plus it gives me a feel that it makes my fanpage sort of complete.

    Hey Jane,
I have been using RSS Graffiti which automatically fetches my post link from my blog’s RSS each time I publish a new post and automatically publishes it in my Facebook Page. Recently I have been finding that automatic sharing of the posts certainly does not bring much attention from the Page fan’s and I am thinking of dropping RSS Graffiti and Manually sharing. I think this application you shared can be a good idea to add a seperate tab for showing the RSS feed of the blog for fans who want to check

    Regards,
    Shiva

    Hi,
So far i didn,t make much use of facebook for my blog promotion. Now i am trying to optimize it for effective results. I will use your tips to make best use of facebook.

Pratap, Facebook is an amazing platform for blog promotion. It is my #2 source of traffic. It has much lesser noise and your chance of getting noticed is higher than Twitter. So I insist you make good use of it!

Involver has a fairly nice looking rss feed app you can add to facebook. The appearance is very clean and easy to navigate and understand. It is similar to your previous post about adding the twitter one. If I remember right you have to grant Involver some kind of permission to your facebook page or account or something. I would imagine there are probably quite a few different rss things you can choose from to add to facebook out there.

I recently read about the twitter tab on Facebook and it’s working well, getting more daily followers than I usually do. One day I did a small traffic research on my blog and I couldn’t ever had expected that 10% of my traffic comes from RSSes. I never thought that RSS is that important and much used. I will definitely try this RSS tab out.

A good tutorial piece for all of us, who would like to become a bit more famous on Facebook. I am sure that many of us have wondered how to set up a Facebook ad, and there have been way too many confusing tutorials, which are not helpful at all. It’s nice to see that someone has paid the time and effort to do everything in detail. That way, even we pure amateurs will be able to take the process into our own hands, and create our very own Facebook ad. Keep up the good work!

I am so happy to read this. This is the kind of manual that needs to be given and not the random misinformation that is at the other blogs.
