Increase web traffic Cheaply and Effectively: 11 Virtually Easy Ways

web-traffic
Increase web traffic - are you at it? You bet!

You’re probably been asking yourself ” “how can I get increase my Web Traffic?”, The truth is, you’re not alone.

Now, as you know, in order to make more money on your business you need to increase web traffic.

Let’s face it, it’s the age of the internet and no business can survive without having its own website. Websites in turn require traffic in order for a business to thrive, because more traffic equals more potential customers.

A lot of businesses have the notion that increasing the number of people who visit their website entails a lot of money, which is not necessarily true. With all of the options now available regarding internet marketing, you don’t need to shell out thousands to get people to check out your website.

All you need is a bit of creativity, imagination and these cost-effective suggestions. Apply some (or most) of them and I am sure your numbers will go up! So let’s begin, shall we?

1.Using Social Networking To Increase Web Traffic

This is one of the most effective tools in marketing a website, as well as one of the cheapest as social networks come free. It costs time and energy, but, there’s nothing else to do on a social networking site except to interact. And that’s how you drive traffic using social media.

There are so many social networks to choose from, the most popular being Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn, that a business may employ several at one time.

The good thing about this method is that one, you have an attractive profile and are able to actively interact with the people who are interested in your page and your product or service, you can easily get the word out and have many people spread the news about your business.

Two, you can post links to your website, share files, post and receive comments in order to drive traffic to your site!

2. Blogging

Blogging is almost the same as publishing, but in this case, you can create your own blog and post various write-ups there. You may also write blog posts for other people’s blogs (guest posting) if they allow it, as long as the content is relevant and puts your business in a good light.

The good thing about a blog is that it is your own. And if you guest post, the link to your website that you put in the profile or author’s resource box is sure to remain there for anyone to easily see.

3. Blog Commenting to increase web traffic

And you’re probably wondering why should you engage in blog commenting? Well, engaging in blog commenting is one of the best ways to increase your visibility to online readers interested in your niche. When you include your website/blog in the comment and if the comment is useful, thought provoking or if its something that stands out, you’ll drive traffic to your site.

There are numerous blogs out there where you can post relevant comments that lead to your business. It’s amazing how much traffic can be generated by just a couple of meaningful and worthwhile comments on industry blogs.

4. Distributing Your Content

Like the age-old method of writing articles and sending them out to be printed in magazines and newspapers, this applies to online businesses as well. But this time, you write articles on your business or on the products or services you offer, and have them published on online directories and even on other websites.

You can also syndicate your web content so that it gets distributed all over the internet, be sure that the articles you publish have links that lead back to your site, and in no time, you’ll see an increase in traffic!

5. Promotions/Giveaway items & Running a Contest

I absolutely love this method. Everyone loves a giveaway. Contests, giveaways, and freebies can help increase websites traffic and increase your Google Pagerank.

The thing about this method is that unlike the first four ways of marketing, this one will cost you something. You may give away things like downloadable files or online courses, but you’ll have to invest when you want to create promos that will really call people’s attention.

Usually, this means big items such as mobile phones, gadgets or products that are related to whatever you’re selling or offering. For this to be effective, you can spread the word using any of the four methods mentioned earlier.

6. PPC/CPM

Advertising doesn’t come free, and it generally isn’t cheap either, depending on the company. But if used right, advertising campaigns can be cost-effective as long as you send your customers to your specific website where you can sell immediately.

Make sure you can keep track of things too so that you know where your money is going and you can keep well within a budget.

7. RSS Feed Submission

I am sure your website provides RSS subscription. If you haven’t, then you’re losing a large chunk of web traffic. I suggest that you set up one. You will need to enable different ways for your readers to subscribe to your blog. This is because when people subscribe to you via RSS or get your blog updates in email, they’ll see your posts whenever you make a new one.

This is vital for keeping people in touch with your blog and getting them to come back. It also helps search engines to easily crawl all link available in RSS feed. It is useful for fast indexing. You may also take advantage of web syndication services for more backlinks.

8. Guest Blogger

Becoming a guest blogger is one of the best and the simplest way to increase web traffic. Basically this involves writing a post in someone’s blog that is related to your niche.

Usually the post carries the author’s name with a link to your their website. If you’re wondering what you get in return with more specifics than the typical “exposure” response then let me give you a run-down:

    Hi Easther,
You provided 11 excellent ways to increase web traffic to our sites. It takes some experimenting figuring out how to effectively use each method but eventually the hard work will pay off.

I “stumbled” a post of mine back in October and I still get 50 to 100 visitors a day because new readers re-stumble it again I suppose.

Great guest post Easther and welcome! Fabulous tips you’ve shared and I recently wrote a post sharing with my readers how I’ve gotten my blog to where it is.

The only two methods I don’t use from your list are giveaways (I tried them and failed miserably) and Craigslist ads. I recently learned about a unique way to get leads for my business with Craigslist ads but not to my blog. I love learning things that I wasn’t aware of so thank you for introducing me to this. I don’t know why I didn’t think I should be using them to drive traffic to my blog too.

Great tips and thanks again Easther for sharing this with us and Jane, great choice.

If we take these individually, social networking is the best method, as it involves relatively less work and it has infinite potential.
But if that’s not enough, all these methods together can make wonders if done the right way.

Blogging and working on social media is a good way to generate traffic on a site but it requires patience and consistency. It’s not easy to create unique and original content to be distributed on different online communities. As for now, a helping hand is just a click away.

      Rodel Narciso,
Social network is a slow process in generating leads.
we need to encourage people to come to our social sites and once they’re there, we have to create enough value for them to hang around

  45. GeoffGeoff says

Hi Easther, I’d never considered using Craigslist in this way before but I’m intrigued.

Can you give an example of how you might do this if you’re not actually selling something? I can see how this might work if you’re selling products and the user visits your online store, but what if you’re a blogger just giving out advice in a specific niche. Any thoughts on how to utilize Craigslist for this? Thanks!

    • EastherEasther says

      If you’re not selling,
If you have some kind of service the The Craigslist “Services” section can work well if you are promoting content about a specific services.

Now if you’re giving out advise, maybe you can use the Class section. This section can be found in the community area of the site but can also be reached through the calendar on the lefthand side of Craigslist. Basically you hold an online class about a topic related to your blog. Using online conferencing tools, you invited people to attend a short twenty minute online class about your topic. If you have enough knowledge on a topic to have a blog, you have enough to teach a short class.

Or if you just want to promote your blog. The community section of the site, located in the top left corner of the main Craigslist screen, provides many opportunities for publicizing your blog.

and in the Barter section. you can write something like: ” I have a blog about abc and am seeking someone to promote it for me in a creative way. Send me an email with your promotional idea and what you Send me an email with your promotional idea and what you like in exchange..”something like that…

there are just so many ways that you can use Craigslist to drive traffic.
I hope that answers your question Geoff?

Nice tips. The toughest part in social media, not mentioned enough, is the difficulty of building a relevant following.
