This post is for all the bloggers who are working day and night in front of their PC to stay ahead of the competition and be consistent. Most often, bloggers face a situation called writers block. The reason behind this situation could be bad eating habits. Food is the fuel for your creativity.
Writing is a more demanding field than any other mind freezing job in the market. If you are writing occasionally its OK but if your job demands 24/7 commitment or you have a certain deadline to meet, then you will be the victim of severe mental stress which can lead to some serious state. Honestly it’s as tiring and boring as observing the grass grow.
As the mind can directly affect your mood and energy, on the other hand, energy can affect your mind as well. It’s a unified procedure, if one goes down the other one will follow. The result is your mind will stop putting ideas on the paper.
Healthy Eating Habits for Bloggers
Eating healthy food is not only necessary for those who want to lose weight, it’s also very important for the blogger who is scratching his mind 24/7 to write excellent blogs or articles. Everyone should follow a well balanced diet to have a healthy and fit body and this is applicable for the bloggers as well.
Bloggers are prone to eat fast food like burger and fries because these can be eaten faster. However, they are high on fats and carbohydrates. Thus it’s a bad habit. The worst thing about bloggers is most of them are gym-phobic. They are miles away from gyms or fitness training hubs. So, a well balanced diet is the only best way to keep a blogger fit and fine.
Every blogger should have a proper diet chart. He should follow the diet chart meticulously so that he can get the right amount of nutrients and be fit enough to keep blogging. We discuss a lot on this topic on our discount coupon blog that features weight watchers and nutrisystems discount deals and most bloggers are very interested on the topic.
Let’s dive in.
List of Essential Food for Bloggers
Let us discuss about some food which will help the bloggers to revive their lost energy and health:
Fish
A blogger must add fish into his/her diet chart. Studies have shown that people who eat fish feel less depressed than those who don’t have the practice of eating fish. Fish has omega 3 which is highly essential for the mind/brain as well as for the body. Eating fish will help the bloggers to live longer in the business of writing.
Nuts and Seeds
Almonds, cashew nuts, hazelnuts, walnuts, nuts of all kinds are filled with high protein and other good qualities to enhance the power of the brain. This helps bloggers to think clearly and keeps them away from depression and mood swings. Though they contain a good amount of fat, it’s only the good ones like omega-3, to enhance the skills to deliver good quality work.
Eggs
Most of us eat eggs without knowing its positive quality. However, for those who are not fond of this yummy food, eggs discharge a chemical that boosts the transmission of ideas between the nerves. Therefore a diet rich in eggs helps to enhance the memory power and improves the quality of writing.
Vegetables and Fruits
Writing is a job involving the mind. So, one should eat lots of vegetables and fresh fruits. These natural protein-rich foods can help boost the function of brains. It helps to think clearer and faster whereas synthetic sugar fails in doing so. Sugar will drop the mood instead of creating a steady mind structure. This kind of diet is thus necessary for bloggers.
Coffee
Apart from preventing drowsiness and boosting mental power coffee can reduce the chance of diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer. However, if you are not at all worried about Alzheimer, a cup of hot steamy coffee can help to invent good ideas. Its, however, not a part of the dietchart, but an energy stimulant.
Good food has a positive effect on the brain as well as the body. For a writer a healthy, balanced diet is essential every day. Apart from these, there are lots of other fat burning food like Beans, Bell peppers, Onions Trout, Oatmeal, Cucumbers, Berries, Spinach, Bananas, Bison, Hot Peppers, Green Tea, Chicken breast, Olive oil, Parsnips, Carrots, Brussels Sprouts, Watermelon, Apples, Lemons & Limes, Garlic etc which will help to keep the body fit and healthy and thus enable effective blogging.

Oh my, I should probably start this so called blogger’s healthy diet. I’m pretty sure I don’t have all the food mentioned above aside from coffee which is a daily drug for me since I get headaches if I won’t take a cup per day. I hate to eat fish so I should start eating it now since you mentioned studies have shown that eating fish has significant relationship with being less prone to depression.
John, certainly. Health is wealth and for a blogger, their physical and mental health are their assets and investment to their business. So ya, start eating fish and feel good
Hi, As you said, diet plays key role in maintaining healthy body and mind. our diet habits directly affects the immune system of our body and output of mind. We take much care about our cars, electronics etc. but we never thick of what we are eating and how it affects our mind and body .Your article reminds the importance of diet and items to keep in our regular menu to maintain a healthy body and mind.
Glad that I could help you realize the importance of diet! Yes, indeed everyone is busy and we are prone to forget (or pay very less attention to) what we eat!
A very well diet plan to increasing productivity and thus become a successful blogger…. Thanks for the share Jane !!
My only bad blogger’s habit is coffee but I only have one cup a day. I think I am the total opposite to the blogger from the post, I am as active as I can be, being a trainer I am pretty much sport and fitness obsessed. That also means I can eat a lot of pork chops and stay healthy, lol. Love the post Jane!
Pit, I can say that from seeing your picture (the one you posted on your birthday post in your uniform). You are fit and I am sure that being a cop you are trained for it! So ya, you are one of those highly envied people who eat a lot and stil stay fit, while the others are starving and still expanding!
Awesome tips! I’m a firm believe in health and diet affecting one’s performance in all areas of life. Blogging is such a sedentary activity that it’s easy to get into bad health habits, especially with diet and exercise. It’s important to be proactive in eating healthy to maintain productivity.
You got my point Richard! Thanks for your comment!
Love the post Jane!
This is indeed so very true! I think because of our sedentary lifestype, bloggers tend to be seated most of the time and unless they make a sincere effort to move out, walk or exercise, and eat a well balanced diet, they are going to gain weight and fall sick.
I couldn’t agree more with your list of foods. However, being a pure vegetarian my options also include things like herbal tea, sprouts, soybean, cheese, and more of milk products made from skimmed milk, beside the fruits and vegetables. Of course, some vitamin supplements are also needed to maintain the right balance- specially for omega-3, which is a vital antioxidant as well.
Thanks for sharing
Harleena, to be honest I’m cutting back a lot of exercising time. In fact I’m not exercising at all as I used to be
I’m planning to buy a treadmill at home to compensate!
Very good post. Some people think that if you just sit in front of the PC that means that you don’t want to it as you;re doing nothing serious. But in reality it’s a risky style of life. You need to do move and do some exercises from time to time. And don’t forget about your eyes - give them a rest. And of course we shouldn’t forget about vitamins.
Eugene, the thing about “eyes” is something that needs a special mention. Thanks for bringing that up
Hello Jane,
wow, this is really one great post. Exists so many bloggers, and unfortunately most of them are not eating healthy. I agree that we (bloggers) need to eat healthy in order to be able to write great posts and articles. It is good that I have realize as well all the facts that you posted here, and i am trying to have a very healthy life by eating healthy and doing some exercises from time to time. So, for people to be productive, the solution is to eat healthy!
My method when i have a lot of urgent work and i’m forced to burn some night oil is simple - eat a lot of fruits, i normally place the bowl close to the keyboard and keep a steady rithm, fruits have sugar - energy. Avoid coffee. Coffee gives a lot of energy, but it only lasts for a few hours, then you crash like a rock. So what i do is drink black tea. Green/White/Black tea has caffeine and antioxidants, it provides just the energy you need, in small steps. I do a liter of tea and it usually lasts me for around 10 hours. Best things is that if i want to sleep i can do it any time, compared to coffee which makes you stare at the ceiling.
Claire I do agree that tea is better than coffee, but stil both are not good
Drinking fresh juices helps a lot. But I’m sure most bloggers can’t live without either coffee or tea lol
You’re already making me think about all the good food i’ve been missing. working on computers day in day out isnt easy at all… and i dont really like fast foods just that i dont have a choice sometimes
Jovie yes I understand. Fast food is the best option when it comes to a time-saver, quikie kinda meal. We can have it occasionally though; shouldn’t be a problem!
thanks for this, obviously eating healthy can help us being more attractive at work (blogging)
All of these are part of my diet except of one, coffee. LOL I don’t really drink coffee since then because I’m not comfortable of its aroma. But mind you, I still enjoy the taste of coffee candy! I actually bookmarked your post and see what else can I eat to improve my diet. It’s great that you’ve shared this list!
Audrey I used to drink tons of Coffee while I was doing PhD (doesn’t that relate well?). Now I’m drinking green tea LOL!
Jane,
You are great. Thats why once I found your blog, I kept coming back to it. You go to new territories that most bloggers would not and you have a great way of connecting things.
You are absolutely right, blogging really does take a toll on you and without a healthy diet and perhaps some exercise, it will wear you off quickly. Thanks Jane.
Thanks for the nice words Satrap!
