Home Based Business Blogging Success: The Big Picture Series

Home Based Business Blogging Success: The Big Picture Series

Thousands of blogs are started every day. There are varieties of dreams and purposes behind each of those blogs. But the bitter statistic is that over 90% of the blogs never succeed.

Here, by “success” I don’t mean becoming one of the top blogs in the internet – but most blogs don’t even see the light. Most of the blogs are abandoned after a few short months of work, or I’d call that trial.

So why do most blogs fail? What’s missing? While a lot of people have the guts and desire to start a blog, what’s stopping them from making it a success? And here, by success I do mean becoming one of the top blogs in the internet – authoritative and useful for the readers, while making consistent income for the owner.

This has been one of the noisiest topics in my head for quite a while now. So I just thought I should put everything out through this series.

Not all blogs succeed. I do agree. I’ve had quite some failed blogs and I had to ditch them. But as you can see, that didn’t stop me from blogging and making a success out of it. Sometimes you could have made a wrong start and you just need to change course! That’s it. That doesn’t mean you should dump your goals and go look for a job elsewhere.

So what’s with the big picture?

As you can see, the title of this series is Home Based Business Blogging Success: The Big Picture. The first bit is something that’s most commonly sought for. So what’s it with the second bit – the big picture?

Well, in this series I’m going to zoom out and talk about the really big stuff you need to be attending to in order to succeed with blogging. In fact I was actually motivated to write this series by a few of my blog audit clients. When I suggest them to take care of the BIG stuff, all they want is to get into the details! They want to know if they need to put their adsense unit up by two widgets to increase more earnings. They want to know if they should change the color of their blog post headlines to red to get more clicks.

Well, I’m not totally against details. Yes the small stuff and the small details do need matter a lot. For instance, the font you use on your blog is pretty important. So are the following elements: font size, link color, the width of your content column, the logo and so on. But these are really the detailed stuff. These things matter or do have a meaning only when you fix the big stuff.

What most bloggers do these days is they totally ignore or fail to pay attention to the big matter while they spend hours together on fixing the little details on their blog; and they wonder after a few months – “Why am I not getting success with this blog?”.

So this series is to help newbie and even some of the established bloggers to

(i) identify the big elements that they (you) need to fix in order to achieve blogging success.

(ii) provide them (you) with ways/solutions to deal with those big elements and how to set them right in order to achieve blogging success.

(iii) to let them (you) know how important it is to take care of the big stuff, if they (you) are ignoring it so far!

Its equally important for a blogger creating a blog and to maintain it.
Many of the bloggers are doing well but some of them fail to do so , and due to which it causes their blog to fail.

This is a nice article, Jane. When I started blogging, I was full of enthusiasm. I was really motivated and I could write every day. However, after doing some assessments regarding my blog performance, I think I failed to see the big picture. Anyway, I learned a lot from this article. Thanks so much for sharing! :-D

    • http://www.probloggingsuccess.com/ Jane Sheeba

Hey Britney, its normal that we all feel a surge of enthusiasm and energy when we start something new; and its quite normal that this enthusiasm gradually fades over the time. We must be more prepared for later times and save some enthusiasm as well as focus on keeping our motivation up all the time :)

I enjoy blogging. I do it to unwind and take away the stress of the day. It’s sort of a diary to me where I can pour my feelings and thoughts and ideas. But like most people, I also can’t find the time to write on a consistent basis despite the fact that I have real passion for writing. I would love to read your series and learn how I could do things differently and a lot better. More power to you :)
