Why should you install Commentluv on your blog

Why-should-you-install-Commentluv-on-your-blog

If you are blogging and don’t know about Commentluv you seriously have to wake up. Commentluv is a cool cute WordPress plugin that enables the commenter to leave a link to one of his/her recent posts while leaving a comment.

For instance, in a blog where Commentluv is installed, just like this blog, when you attempt to leave a comment, you will see a small commentluv check box below the comment form. See image below.

Comment form on a commentluv enabled blog

When you check that box, the plugin will return a link from your latest blog post. Usually the blogs which have commetluv enabled will provide a do-follow backlink, which means the link to your latest article will be do-followed when you leave a comment.

Now that is not all. You get more of it when you register your blog at Comluv.com website. Once your blog is registered there, you can choose from at least 10 of your recent posts to leave a link when you comment.

For instance I have my blog registered at Comluv.com and hence when I check the commentluv icon on a comment form, I will get something like this

Commentluv in action showing recent 10 posts

You can now choose any one from 10 of your recent posts and leave a link. This could be more helpful to you to

1. vary your links while you actively build links through blog commenting, and

2. leave a link to a post which is more relevant to the post you are commenting (the most recent post some times won’t be too relevant to the post you are commenting on)

Now, if you are not using commentluv on your blog, I will tell you why you should.

3 Reasons why you should install commentluv on your blog

Forwardness

The days of no-follow and banning links are gone. It was all about being backward, I can only say that much. People were once worried about the flow of link juice. They were thinking that too much outgoing links on a page will affect their page rank; hence they wanted to plug all the link leaks.

Well that’s reasonable, but you can plug link leaks with other links on your blog, and not on the links of your commenters. Installing commentluv on your blog means that you are being forward. You are not being selfish, you are ready to acknowledge other people, and in short, you are ready to show some love.

Treating your commenter

Your commenter has bothered to stop by, read and leave a comment on your blog. Should you not reward them? You really should. CommentLuv makes it a lot easy, eye catching and friendly to reward your commenter.

With commentluv, you allow the commenter to leave a link to one of his/her recent posts (which is good for backlinks and traffic) and you make the links do-follow (which is good for backlinks and SEO for the commenter).

Attracting Traffic

OK this one goes without saying. There are numerous bloggers who want to build backlinks to their blogs, build authority and develop connections in the blogosphere (indeed every blogger is so). They also know that effective blog commenting can get them traffic.

And, commentluv simply makes all this easy for such commenters who are looking for some perks. Naturally, people search for commentluv enabled blogs to leave comments; and if yours is so, you can attract really some great numbers.

Mine worked out so well that way.

Have you installed commentluv on your blog? How well that works for you?

    • Buy Twitter Followers says

We should never stop saying thank for Commentluv because it really shows luv for everyone. But we should also learn to love it and not abuse it just like spammers.

      • Ritu says

Absolutely. Commentluv is the most important plugin in my blogger kitty. Without Commentluv I feel my blog is just I am talking to myself and no friends around :) . 5 starts to Commentluv; great post and thank you for sharing.

  2. Jym @ Blog SEO says

    Hey Jane,

With you 100% on this one. CommentLuv is a must to give something back to visitors and encourage a healthy flow of traffic through your site.

Definitely an essential on any blog which is intended to create a lively and sharing network and community around it.

Thanks for covering it in this post!

  3. Shaan @GeekyStuffs says

I am using Disqus on my blog and it does not supports CommentLuv like IntenseDebate.

Andy posted that its because of the comment box which doesnt match with CommentLuv plugin. Hope that Disqus guys will work on this soon

    • Jane Sheeba says

      Hey Shaan,

Honestly, I hesitate a bit before commenting on blogs with Disqus. It may have pros but it just feels kinda alien to me. And you are driving away many people like me :)

      Cheers,
      Jane.

  4. Extreme John says

    Hi there Jane.

I agree with you. CommentLuv is indeed very useful and helpful for bloggers like us. I am currently using it and I am very satisfied with it, helping me increase my traffic in a much easy way- such an effective way of blogging and blog commenting.

    Thanks for this post.

  5. AJ Clarke says

I’m still considering whether I should add comment luv or not to my site. It seems that there are a lot of perks but I am worried about too much comment spam and don’t really have the time to go through and check all my comments everyday before posting them. You’ve provided some great reasons why to have the plugin…I will research further. Thanks for the tips JaneSheeba!

    • Jane Sheeba says

      Hey Clarke,

Your worry is very reasonable. But I am doing great with AKISMET plugin. You should try it :) You will see a difference with commentluv and AKISMET.

      Cheers,
      Jane.

    • Jane Sheeba says

      Hey Clarke,

I meant GASP, and not AKISMET, sorry for confusing you. If you are using AKISMET and are worried about spam, you should really change to GASP.
      Cheers,
      Jane.

  6. Catarina Alexon says

Agree with you that Comment Luv is a great idea. Have had it for a long time.

However, the developer made changes to it earlier this year which resulted in it not being as reliable as it was. Am a member and it’s installed on my blog. But on and off I have been banned for reasons I really don’t understand. You then have to un-ban it, but sometimes that doesn’t help.

Am aware that other bloggers also have problems with Comment Luv and hope they sort out whatever it is that’s causing it soon.

    • Jane Sheeba says

      Hey Catarina,

I have experienced bans too. It usually happens when we are too quick in commenting on different sites using commentluv. I am OK with that :)

      Cheers,
      Jane.

  7. Tosin@Home-Based Business Coach says

    Hey Jane,

    Lovely review of commentluv!

  9. Adrienne says

I love CommentLuv Jane, can’t believe we ever got along without it. When people come to my blog, I always return the favor and it’s so easy with this plug-in.

Not only that, it’s one of the ways I’ve actually followed some of the people who have commented on other blogs. Yep saw the title of their post, thought it was interesting, hopped on over to their blog, thought it was a cool post, looked around some more and I’m a new regular visitor. All because of this cool little simple plug-in.

If you aren’t using it now, upload it today! Oh, and watch what happens…

    Adrienne

    • Jane Sheeba says

      Yes Adrienne,

Commentluv is a great way to find relevant information on the web; you don’t have to manually look for blog articles to read, you have a variety of them on your own blog comments :)

      Jane.

  13. Nick Stamoulis says

Commentluv is a great platform. It helps bloggers connect with one another. Blog commenting is about more than getting a link, but that is certainly part of the strategy. This makes it a little bit easier.

  14. Anne Lyken-Garner says

Interesting post. Very practical for me since I’m a new comluv-er. :-)

I installed comLuv on one of my blogs a few days ago. However, after I posted a new article on one of my other blogs, I found that the comment form there has disappeared. Does anyone have any advice to fix this?

  15. Rajesh Chaukwale says

Commentluv has spread on blogosphere widely. I always find it great to comment on commentluv enabled blogs. And what more, due to recent commentluv updation, CL can give you registered members too.

  16. Jocuri says

  17. Usman@FirstHosting says

    Hi, Jane!

I must agree today, bloggers who are not using this plugin are still sleeping, because both reader and blog owner have benefit in it.

Owner will get returning visitors and commentator will get links, so both are getting benefit..

I also have my site registered at their site and I also get my recent 10 posts option while checking the box.

    Regards

  18. Anna says

Commentluv is another good plug in and I guess it should be used if you allow do follow commenting in your blog. It has more benefits and a few disadvantages like the necessity to look through the comments in order to avoid spamming. But i guess it won’t take much time so it should be installed.

    • Jane Sheeba says

      Anna,

Agree very much with you. Doesn’t take much time to install it. With the issue of spam commenters I have GASP installed to defend myself. Not seeing much spam, 1-2 spam comments get through for 2/3 days.

      Jane.

  19. Rojish says

The commentators take their time for commenting in our blog and hence it is our duty to reward them for their time. Commentluv is an excellent way for rewarding our commentators. Also I felt that the traffic and number of comments in my blog increased after adding commentluv in my blog. Personally I like to comment on Commentluv enabled blogs :)

    • Jane Sheeba says

      Hey Rojish,

Commentluv is a sure fire way to increase blog traffic. I am glad you see the results.

      Jane.

  20. Jayne Kopp says

Jane, I cannot imagine not having Comment Luv on my site. It really is a terrific plugin. I think its great that others can connect so easily and meet one and other in the comment sections on blogs.

Great suggestion for those who don’t know about it.

    Jayne

    • Jane Sheeba says

  21. Jon@Business Ideas says

    Hi Jane,

CommentLuv is a quality plugin with advantages for all parties involved. It’s a kind reward to commenters to have their recent links left attached.

    That said…

I’m currently not using it. Is that evil of me? Nah. I may switch over to it one day but for now I’m still working out other foundational aspects and driving traffic. I have seen many sites with it installed and am happy for you that you’re pleased with the tool.

    Jon

    • Jane Sheeba says

      Hey Jon,

You should really try it out after you settle down your foundational aspects. You say that you are working on driving traffic and this is really a traffic booster. People will easily find you because comluv website has a search option where people can search for commentluv enabled blogs in their niche (specific keywords).

      Cheers,
      Jane.

I use commentLuv in my blog especially for that #4th reason ;-)

KeywordLuv not only lets your commenter to have a backlink but it can be a good source of navigating the community blog posts. I immediately find the fresh contents whenever I browse through the comment section of any recent post.

    Commentluv rocks my world!!!!

You know the www is big ol’ lonely place, commentluv helps to connect to others with similar interests

    Heheheh, mines blogging ;0)

  25. Cornelia D. Morin says

I have already about plugin that help you do just that and what perhaps even better do it by simply commenting on other blogs! In this post I will discuss several important aspects to get it just right in order to receive greatest benefits not only in form of traffic but also getting DoFollow links to the deeper internal pages of your blog. I promise not to leave a stone unturned and get you all the info you need! The entire concept is EXTREMELY simple contribute quality comments to other blogs and in return get valuable links to your internal pages in many cases with full PR juice! But in order to implement the concept effectively it will require several things to be in place. Very effective way to increase participation on your blog by providing value to your commenters. But the benefits of the plugin are limited to title if you are using default WordPress installation as it adds nofollow attributes to all links and No PR Juice is passed alone.

  26. Tosin says

I agree that CommentLuv is a great additon to any blog. However, I myself do not have a WordPress blog, so I can’t leave links to my last post. However, as a commenter, I’m finding KeywordLuv very useful, and I can see that it definitely increases traffic, and it exposes me to so many excellent posts on excellent blogs that I might never have heard of otherwise…! ;)

  27. John@ Web hosting says
