There are many benefits in guest blogging. The one I have benefited mostly is in shaping my writing. Popular blog authors/editors have a tendency to ask for various revision, unlike most other blogs which would accept the blog post the way it is.

After doing guest blogging on some popular blogs what I felt I was getting as a reward was not backlinks, but it was the exposure that it gave me. Now I can confidently say that more bloggers know me and more people now visit my blog. Now I only do guest blogging with a view of getting more exposure and build relationship with new bloggers. As for backlinks, it just come as a freebie for your post, otherwise the main benefit of guest blogging is the exposure.

I totally agree with these points. I have written 38 guest posts so far this year (roughly half of them are published and another half are waiting to published) and I’m looking forwards write more.
I have seen a growth in my subscriber amounts and in traffic numbers.
Something that I’m testing right now is that I’m writing a targeted lead magnets for specific audiences. This should increase the opt-ins even further.
Currently I’m writing more posts for others than to my own blog and this strategy seems to work very well.
