Wrapping Up The Year Nicely And Preparing For The New Year

Happy New Year

I don’t know how many of you will be reading a blog post at this time of the year – its mostly time to celebrate and holidays in most part of the world.

However I decided to write this post so that both you (if you read it) and me could benefit from it.

As the title says, this post is about wrapping up the current year, which is about to end, and prepare ourselves for a successful and prosperous New Year.

As entrepreneurs, bloggers and online marketers, every day is a challenge! We have dreams, goals and lots of things to accomplish. It is a tough road towards success.

Now that we have a brand New Year ahead, I wish all bloggers, and online marketers a very prosperous and successful New Year. But will my wish (or your friend’s wish) make the New Year really successful for you?

Wishes are to make you feel warm, to cheer you up and to give you some motivation – but that is not all. YOU need to be prepared to face the life in the New Year and make yourself some success.

I usually like this time of the year (the last week of the year) because it gives a unique feeling. It helps me look back, remember and analyze my performance over the year.

Here’s what I usually do to wrap up

I do spend some time quiet and look back. Now all that I am talking about in this post will apply not only for business, but also to your personal and spiritual life.

I think about how I started year – with/without a goal and a plan? If I had goals and plans what are they?

How many of those goals did I achieve? How many goals were attempted but failed? How many goals were not even attempted?

Now, on successes…..

It is time to give me a pat on the back. It is also the time to find out “why” did I succeed. There is surely no “luck”. Was it my great plan, was it my unbeatable motivation, was it my passion or was it my hard work?

On failures…..

I ask the same questions – why did I fail? What could I have done better? What if….?

The New Year

Now that I have a shiny New Year ahead, full of promises what am I up to? What do I want to achieve in the New Year.

I will make a list of my goals (I’ve already made them :)) and an action plan for each goal, because as I say in my ebook, having a goal is different from achieving it. You need to have an action plan to get moving towards your goal in the right direction.

And, even more one plan is not enough. It is always good to have a plan B.

So all this doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t have to sit down and do a mind map. Just take a pen and note book and jot down your past successes and failures and future goals and action plans.

That’s it. This simple thing you do in wrapping up this year could make a very big difference in kick starting the New Year with a bang. And you will have nice goals and plans to keep yourself busy and move towards achievements.

That’s when success comes, not just with a wish. Nevertheless, you have my wish 😉

Even if you’re reading this post in the New Year, its never too late to run this mini analyzer/planner on yourself and start rocking!

If you’re a blogger I have a nice opportunity for you to start the new blogging year with BANG (and give yourself and your blog a big facelift).

My past

I am so proud of what I’ve done in my online business in 2011.

I’ve completely rebranded and moved my main blog findallanswers.com to probloggingsuccess.com, the one you’re reading. By the way, if you’re looking to do the same thing in future, here’s a step-by-step guide for you on moving a WordPress blog.

I have launched an ebook – Problogging Action Plan, my first ever product. I’ve started a Tech Blog, Tech Buzz Online, a personal blog, Jane Sheeba dot com and 3 more blogs and a niche site.

Given that I am not a full time blogger yet and I have a 1.5 year old kid, I find this to be a great achievement :)

Sure, I had two failed projects, but I’m glad that I’ve learned so much from those two failures.

Plans for the New Year

1. To bring my premium projects out of my hard drive.

2. Make more money, obviously! I have an exact figure to make from each stream.

3. To take some more risk on trying out new business models and learn whatever I get out of it.

4. Do more guest posts. I love doing them. I’ve done 210 guest posts in 2011 (here’s a list), but I want to write more posts as well as write in new blogs in which I haven’t written so far.

I’d love to hear about your goals and plans for the New Year :) I wish you a very prosperous and a successful New Year!

PS: This is my last post for this year. See you in the New Year :)

Being a part time blogger you did tremendous work. I felt much improvement of your site by shifting to new domain and content as well as services you are providing. I wish you more success in 2012. Happy new year.

You are an inspiration to me. I´m a full-time blogger for 6 months now but my achievement is nothing compared to you, given that you´re still doing full-time. There are times that i feel that I´ve chosen a niche that´s very saturated, but then again it´s something that I love doing. Reading your blog inspires me to keep going and to manage my time more efficiently. All the best to 2012.

My plans go further than just one year, that means i don’t have time for breaks and i have nothing to wrap up. Planning things yearly is a nice way to keep count of your achievements, but that’s just forcing yourself to set limits to what you can do.
I make my plans from 5 to 5 years and the quality of work can usually be seen.

    Great tips here Jane,

You not only need a list of goals but an action plan to achieve those goals, just as you said.

My blog design will be changing soon and I’m glad to be able to see some fresh ideas on how I might change it.

Thanks for taking the time to write this even during the holidays.

Have a Happy New Year Everyone,

Very nice wrap-up post Jane 😀

You’re right, this time of every year gives people a unique feeling. And it’s good to know that 2011 was a bang for you! My 2011 was really a tough year. As I was building my online business and finishing the final year of university at the same time. But I can say that it was great as well. I generated my first $15 online after 10 months of working (and it’s $150 by now) and my grades are good :)

2012 will be the year I want to push my business to the next level as I’m investing in more useful tools and services. Hope I can make my first $100 month soon.

That’s for me. And thanks for bringing this post up. It’s December 30th here, and time is flying by.

So, enjoy the final days of 2011 and Happy New Year Jane!

Well Sheeba, I didn’t you have been blogging part time only. The kind of achievements you have shared are remarkable keeping in mind that you are not doing this full time. All the very best for your future and new year.

Thanks Jane for the splendid posts you wrote for HellBound Bloggers (HBB), I still read them now and then, they are wonderful as always.

Happy New Year to you and your family. :)

    • Jane Sheeba says

Hey Pradeep! Thanks for stopping by. I surely enjoy writing for HBB – one of the very first blogs I wrote for when I started with guest blogging and one of the blogs that I’m still interested in writing.

Hm.. so Slash square is your new project? Great!

    • Jane Sheeba says

LOL, Ana sure it was an year of so much dynamics to me :) Ya, the redesign was something in my mind since November and I wanted to finish it before New Year!

Not to mention, TGC is seeing newer heights everyday! You rocked in 2011 :) I look forward to your premium report gal!

  11. Adrienne says

Wow Jane, you have accomplished so much this year. Look at all you do with a full-time job and a young child. I am so very impressed that you are able to continuously crank out the impressive content that you do and keep up with all your sites. You truly are an inspiration to us all.

My first post of the new year will have everything listed that I intend to accomplish in the new year so I won’t bore you with all the details here. It might end up being your longest comment ever.

I wish you all the success in 2012 Jane and have a Very Happy New Year!

    • Jane Sheeba says

Adrienne I should certainly mention that you are one of the biggest motivators to me, since I met you online :) I look forward to your New Year post! Have a wonderful and prosperous New Year :)

    Hi Jane,

Awesome goals you hit this past year.

I like your year end strategy. Nothing fancy, simply sit down and take stock of what you accomplished. Analyze successes and failures. See how you can improve. Write out your goals and take them into the New Year.

Many run around without a plan. As you mention, without a plan, you are wishing, or hoping. You need something tangible, a definite plan written down, to reference, to see, to use as your guide. Because when things get tough it’s all too easy – and common – to toss any plans out the door.

Keep your goals and plans around you at all times. I repeat my goals to self each hour, every hour, to impress my goals on my mind. Works wonders for keeping me on course each hour of each day.

Thanks for sharing your insight Jane. Happy Holidays :)

    Hey Jane,

This is such a beautiful post to read at the end of the year! 2011 was a funny year but making the best out of what happens is wonderful! Loved to see the achievements and also the hope with which you enter the new year!

    Happy New Year! :)

Jane, nice article. Besides the fact that I can relate to the article as another blogger with online goals, I’m also a hypnotist helping many people make positive changes and reach their goals, and I also have a website selling hypnosis products and the New Year is a time of year many people look to to make changes.

  15. Cheng LeeCheng Lee says

Happy new year and your last post is really very nice. In my opinion, we should not have to be disheartened on our failures because there must be something good in our failures, that only God knows.

  16. MartinMartin says

You so right! I wrote my goals for 2012, but I didn’t think about the plan A and plan B to achieve them. I’ll do that before the end of this week. Thanks for your tips.

First a tremendous Thank You for your services in December 2011 helping me to launch my blogging platform. You took care of all the technical details so my time was free to concentrate on other aspects of blogging.

New Years eve for me was a time to reflect and goal plan. So many people make resaloutions for the new year, but fail because they didn’t attach a plan to it. I started 2012 by making a 1 year plan, a 9month plan, a 6 month plan, a 3 month plan and finally a daily schedule of activities to achieve a monthly goal.

Thanks also to your inspiration too and dedication of our journey’s in blogging. 2012 will be a great turning point in both our successes. My best wishes to your Jane.

I don’t think there’s someone around the world who had only successes in one year. Do you know what’s my favorite song? “My way” – Frank Sinatra; “Regrets? I’ve had a few” :) Except I don’t like regrets; all I do is to adapt, evolve and regret nothing! Everything happens with a reason. I know – so many cliches, but they’re true! I’m sure it’s not too late to wish you good luck and many accomplishments in 2012!

A Happy New Year to everyone! New Year means new beginning. And it is best to plan what is up for you for the coming years. Planning for what would be your endeavor for the year is such a nice a idea. It is always best that you already know what goals you want to achieve. You must know by then as to what path you will take. With planning, you tend to know your priorities and you already have countermeasures as to any circumstance that may come along the way.
