The only thing that can assure your blog to maximum success is the type of content your readers find at your blog. Remember, the quality of your content decides the amount of subscribers you will be gaining.
If visitors find your blog with dumb and useless content, they will find it worthless to subscribe. Well, if you want more subscribers, then give your readers something useful, so that they find your site worthy to subscribe.
Gain Traffic
Are you looking forward to get more subscribers, even though you do not have traffic? That’s quite silly!
If you want to really get more subscribers to your blog, then get good amount of traffic to your blog.
If you are able to put up good content regularly, then it will improve your credibility and help to get more subscribers. It’s the most important step and you can’t skip it.

Giving the perfect style or look is the first step to a successful blog. Well, why?
Whenever a visitor visits your blog, the first thing that welcomes the visitor is your blog’s look. And as the first impression is the last impression, it is necessary to have the right color scheme and the perfect look for your blog.

This is a very useful article, but be careful with this tip: “Asking Readers to Subscribe.” Don’t use pop-ups! People get really annoyed when they get on a blog and the first thing they see is a huge pop-up that asks for subscription.

Kuldeep is absolutely right, here. I get annoyed by pop-ups. I can find the subscribing option myself if I really want to read more from you, even if you don’t have any subscribing option I’ll bookmark. But, for me and I think, pop-ups aren’t necessary for asking your readers to subscribe.

I’d like to add to the above a strategy that’s been working really well for me: use paid ads (such as Google AdWords) strictly to advertise your newsletter.
Doing this on my blog I’ve managed to keep the click-through-rate low (under 1%) which reflects the fact that few people are interested specifically in signing up for a newsletter on my topic and in turn saves me money.
Once these people make it on my site, however, they convert at what is, to me, an excellent rate of around 30% (with an overwhelming preference for e-mail over RSS subscription – presumably reflecting a non-blog-savvy audience) using a specialized landing-page.
So this seems to me like a cost-effective way of obtaining subscriptions early on in the life-cycle of a blog, before it becomes established. Presumably such subscribers are very well-targeted, and what remains is to live up to subscribers’ expectation with quality content, so that they eventually become regular readers.
