blog post idea bulb

Finding more blog content ideas can be very challenging sometimes.

Especially when you’re a newbie online.

It’s very stressful to have a blogging schedule in place but when the time for writing comes you desperately look for something interesting on Google.

It’s not a great position to be in at all. However, is even worse to say: “I don’t know that to write about”.

Just a big fat lie that hides a lack mindset.

Thus, I decided to create a detailed post that you can bookmark and visit often without wasting precious time and energy on surfing randomly.

You don’t have use all these sources.

Once you find few that resonate with your passions and also with the needs of your target market stick with them.

40  sources of  blog content ideas

1. Your target market-  this should be the most relevant source of blog content ideas.  Who are the people you serve? What are their needs, frustrations or goals?

Ask them. Find the answers and turn them into useful content.

2. Create and grow your own Facebook group- encourage the conversation and keep adding people. You will be amazed by the variety of ideas you can receive from their questions or posts.

3. Facebook News Feed- see what your friends are talking about. Be an observer. What they enjoy the most? What are their questions? Start from here.

Quick tip: set your News Feed on “Highlighted Stories First” to receive only the most popular/engaging updates.

4. Facebook Pages- your own, your friends pages  or even better, the pages of various leaders/top marketers because these are visited by thousands of people.

5. Syndication Tribes (like Tribe Pro, Triberr and  TSA Mastery) or Facebook Tribes – People syndicate here information very often A perfect place to find blog content ideas.

6. Facebook Syndication Groups- Private or open , these are created for small groups of entrepreneurs who share each other’s content.

7. Facebook Groups – often visit few good groups from your niche where people post quality content and spamming is not allowed.

8. Your passions-What excites you the most? What pumps tons of joy in your heart? Use that as an inspiration.

When you combine your passions with your business or even better you make a business from them it’s impossible not to have many things to share .

9. Your readers

Ask questions at the end of each post you write. Use their answers/needs as a starting point for new pieces of content.

10. Other blogs from your niche

If you want to be creative and productive, read. A lot.

Visit new blogs daily and connect with their owners. Double shot: relationships+ blog content ideas.

11. Blog comments

Always take the time to read the comments from your blog and other as well . Take advantage of those “gold nuggets”.

12. Your list-Ask questions in your emails. Get on the phone/skype. Listen to your prospects carefully and new suggestions will show up.

13. Keep a journal where you jot down every new idea you have or get. Come back to it often.

14.Use a voice recorder/phone to store your ideas when a journal is not available.

15. Twitter-either you use it directly or you manage it with  a tool such as Hootsuite or Tweet Deck, pay attention to the questions people ask and the most popular posts.

16. The content already shared on Twitter- take a look at your most popular tweets/retweets , do a more detailed research about those topics and write new posts based on them.

17. Your email newsletter-review the emails with the highest click-through rate. This is content that matters for your subscribers. Take advantage of it.

18. Stumble Upon- use the “Discover” option to find new interests, stumblers or channels related to your blog.

19. Use a free keyword research tool such as Google Keyword Tool External. Find low competition keywords that work for your niche and turn them into new posts.

20. Youtube and other popular video sharing websites such as Google Video, Metacafe, Daily Motion etc.

21. Pick up the top bloggers from your niche and subscribe to their RSS feed  to get fresh updates.

22. Choose the leaders you admire and want to model. Get on their mailing lists and use their emails as an inspiration.

23. Google Reader-You have multiple options available with it:  “Browse for stuff” ,”Stuff Picks”, adding keywords with “Search and Browse”, adding manually a blog url with “Add subscription” option or you can directly subscribe to a RSS feed  using the button displayed on the blogs you like.

24. Use Google Blogs to find new blogs from your niche with quality content.

25. Blog Directories: Technorati, BlogCatalog, BlogRama, BlogFlux and so on.

26. Linked In: join  groups related to your field. In order to find more quality  ideas choose the ones with a large number or members and active discussions.

27. Linked In Answers-  you can ask questions about the problems you/your audience have and turn them into new posts. Secondly, make use of “Advanced Answers Search” to find out if others already answered to your question

28. Forums-  popular forums such as Warrior Forum, Sphinn, High Rankings ,Digital Point or Better Networker( for the home based business zone),  have tons of active discussions and questions & answers sections about everything.

29.Yahoo Answers- another source of good info. You can either see what questions have already answers and use it in your posts or you can ask new ones.

30. Audio Books/ Webinars/ Interviews/books/quotes- When your inspiration is gone a book on marketing/personal developement, an interview with a leader from your niche or few simple inspirational quotes are just what you need to create a new post.

32.Mastermind Groups- surround yourself with people who have similar blogging/business goals as yours. When more minds work together, you will never run out of topics to write about.

33. Brainstorm each morning 20 new ideas- a simple method from Brian Tracy but very effective. Just take a piece of paper, write the main topic you want to talk about.

Write until you get 20 ideas, then pick up the best one and implement it right away.

34. Your own experiences- you are an unlimited source of ideas.

Use your experiences-successes and failures- to make your posts more personal, share the lessons learned and create a better relationship with your readership. A story here and there or analogies will make things even more interesting.

35. Create Google Alerts- Let the content ideas come to you. Set up new Google Alerts using keywords from your niche, choose a frequency and you will have fresh content in your inbox regularly.

36. Niche sites/Communities-  Blokube, BizSugar, Blog Interact, SERPD or Blog Engage, all these cover topics from any niche. Also you can join groups, interact with people and get new ideas from them.

37.  Article Marketing Directories- I would suggest to go only through the top directories such as Ezine Articles, Go Articles, Ehow, Squidoo, Hub Pages or Articles Base. They have plenty of information.

One quick option: you can  subscribe  for the Free Ezine Articles Newsletter and they will send you a lot of good information via email.

38.  Search Automator Force

It’s a free software able to help you discover a lot of new blog content ideas simply by using your keywords. The software will come up with suggestions from multiple search engines, blogs, Digg, Flickr, Picassa, Amazon, Ebay, Last.fm, Google maps etc.

39. Make a list with your favorite blogs- pick up the blog posts you enjoy the most and make a list with the links and a short description for each one. Example: Top 10 internet marketing blogs to read in 2012.

40. Guest posting

Finally, if you don’t have enough time to write or do a research, a good option is to invite few friends from the same niche to do a guest post on your blog. Thus, you help them expand their presence while  keeping your readers happy.

As you can see there are countless sources of blog content ideas on the internet. Swimming through this “ocean” of information without a clear direction will drive you mad. Therefore, it’s more effective to be very selective with what you choose for your blog post writing.

These are the sources I used and still use the most since I’m online.

How about you? Where do you find more blog content ideas?

What did I miss?

I’d love to hear your feeback, ideas and suggestions. Let’s meet in the comments area and talk more!

great article my brother. I never run out of ideas on what to post because I’m always teaching certain techniques in my blog. Im always making videos, and im always learning.

So when I learn something I just teach it to my readers.

    • http://radudascalul.com Radu

      Hey Kenny,
When one has a clear/defined marketing strategy and learning something new is a daily process then finding new ideas shouldn’t be a problem. Glad that you’re able to deliver good content on a regular basis.

Thanks for your comment buddy. I appreciate it :)

      All the best,
      Radu

That’s another benefit of being a master at what you do. When you’re really good with your topic, little things spark up content ideas for you. Recently I have been taking more time to read blogs and I realize before reading 5-10 quality posts, one or two content ideas come to me. And I am always happy because the way it comes to me is often very different from what I have read.

However speaking generally, generating blog ideas is a constant challenge because some niches are so tight, that you easily run out of new topics. But even at that, if you make it a habit to read a lot from others and monitor what your readers want, you’ll will always have a subject to write about.

      • http://radudascalul.com/blogging/blog-post-writing/ Radu

        Hey Caro,
Agree. Mastering a topic will keep fueled up with fresh ideas. Yet, mastery it’s a process not an instant result..patience, trial and improvement are part of the game.
Reading more blogs daily, especially the quality ones, is a big bonus for every blogger..because your mind will always try to combine ideas and adapt :) Good one.

Yep, if you care about the audience and want to help them, genuinely, you will have a lot to write despite the niches that are constantly evolving and interacting with each other..blogging+seo for example.

What I did recently to come up with more ideas, is to create a series of posts (1 per week) where I ask my readers 1/2 questions that concern their biggest problems. desires. This way I create interaction and find out more about them..bingo :) More ideas!
You can check out to see what I mean below where is the comment luv link.

Thanks for taking the time to craft this insightful comment Caro. I highly appreciate your support.

        • http://radudascalul.com/blogging/blog-post-writing/ Radu

PS: Excuse me for the mistake with your name. I didn’t pay enough attention. It’s Karo, not Caro.
          All the best Karo :)

          • Karo Itoje

            You’re welcome Radu,

Mastering of course is a process, we learn everyday and as we do we grow our skill(s).

I read your post you referred to, and I think it’s a great idea. I’m going to think hard on that and see what I can come up with at my end.

And yes you’re right about the name :)

I’ll add your blog to my reader so I can follow your future posts. So you’ll be seeing me around.

Take care and all the best.

            • http://radudascalul.com/blogging/blog-post-writing/ Radu

              Hey Karo,
Well said..Mastery is a process…it’s beautiful to see yourself transforming as you learn new skills isn’t it?
Glad that you enjoyed my new series :) I will come up with more questions in the weeks to come.
Thanks for comment. Keep in touch via RSS and blogging of course :)

              Have a blessed day,

I THREW MY LAPTOP BECAUSE I WAS UNSURE OF WHAT TO WRITE

This happens a lot where I get really upset because I can’t figure out what to write. Then, I get it – I try to copy the ideas of other blogs, but that doesn’t do it – so this is what I figured out:

I just need to lay on my bed and be comfortable until I figure out what to write. Also, writing something that I’m not afraid to write about is also key! In addition, I think it’s time I create a mastermind group!

    • http://radudascalul.com Radu

      Hi Jonathan,
I hope your laptop is safe after that situation :)
We are an unlimited source of ideas. Sitting in silence, in bed or just meditating, opens the gate to more creative ideas. It’s a big step forward that you act on your ideas…Many writers lose many great “gold nuggets” due to their fear of implementing.

Thanks for adding value to our discussion with your comment!
      Cheers,
      Radu

Running short of ideas is something that bothers me quite a lot. I don’t want to start a blog and then run dry of ideas after a few months, I don’t want to do a lot of hard work on something that I then find I can’t sustain for a long period of time.

    • http://radudascalul.com/speed-up-your-blog/ Radu

      Hey Harriet,
Well, in this case the post above comes right on time. Fortunately if you’re in a niche like blogging, MLM or social media you will never run out of topics to write about :) In the end, you don’t have to post everyday in the beginning if you are not used to do it..3-4 posts per week should be a great start and eliminates the pressure of writing.

      Thanks for your input.
      Be blessed,
      Radu

I love to write anything down that comes to mind. Not doing this, can lose your train of thought. When writing down, it allows you to get rid of that particular thought and think of another or related one. That’s one of the ways I get ideas

    It works! :)

    Many ways, bro.

Great reminder Samuel. Somtime the simple things are the first to get over looked. Even though they are so effective. -Stephen

I see in the comments below that you went to Samuel’s site and read his poem. X2 on what you said. -Stephen

                    Stephen,

That was a personal post about blog commenting..since leaving comments ends up with few simple rules there are many posts almost identical..Yours was different. Bingo! Authenticity :)
Look forward to check out more about your work online.
                    Cheers buddy,

      Hey Samuel,
Those ideas that comes from within like a flash are great because they come from inspiration :) I noticed that when you implement it right away something good happens..exactly like that song, Listen to your heart :)

Thanks for your contribution my friend!
      Cheers,
      Radu

      • Samuel

Sure! That’s what happened when I wrote a poem. I saw a Youtube viral hit, and boom! Inspiration hit! Check out the poem I wrote. The post is “Why I love blogs, but hate religious ones!”

        • http://radudascalul.com/blog-leads/ Radu

          Hey Samuel,
I just took the time to watch the video and see the poem. It’s great that you listened to your inspiration right away!
That’s how a great poem was born :)
I luved it: no quick fix, learn the thing, love the thing, love the readers and keep them informed+inspired. Exactly like life itself, blogging is a journey worth taking. Man, you have a gift in the area. Cultivate it :)

          Cheers,
          Radu

          • Samuel

Thanks so much, man! Means alot. Atleast in this stage of my blogging journey. I will be commenting on your blog, now :) I am going to continue to pursue my dream in blogging! :)

            Thanks again.

            • http://radudascalul.com/your-thought-matters/your-thought-matters1/ Radu

You are most welcome Samuel. It seems that we all are in a journey either it’s blogging or something.
Wish you success and inspiration for yours. Do you have some favorite bloggers or mentors to assist you along the road? Just curious… :)

              Cheers,
              Radu

              • Samuel

No, not right at the moment. I like certain bloggers, but haven’t got in contact with them.

                • http://radudascalul.com/blogging/quotes-about-blogging/ Radu

That’s all right, if you keep blogging the mentors will come and more than that you will be a mentor for others..How cool is that :)
What are your favorite bloggers at this moment ? Perhaps an exchange of our favorite bloggers will expand our skills and influence in the blogosphere :)

                  Cheers,
                  Radu

                  • Samuel

It would be really cool to be a mentor to others, yes.

My favorites right now are probably Tim Soulo, Nicholas Cardot of sitesketch101, Daniel Scocco of dailyblogtips, Yaro Starak, and definitely more.

We could exchange, ma man. :)

                    • Radu

                      Hey Samuel,
It’s natural to be a mentor when you’re on a journey of growth and learning..and you don’t to be Darren Rowse to teach others..where you are now, it’s just great to assist others with less experience :)

Speaking of great bloggers, there are many great ones: Yaro Starak, yep, Darren Rowse, Chris Brogan, the guys from Coppyblogger, Mavis Nong, Ray Higdon( MLM related) , Seth Godin, Ana Hofman and many more others..I particulary like C Brogan and Seth Godin for their original style and leadership..both seek to get out from the blogging sphere and combine it with lots of experiences and concepts. Chris Brogan does great book reviews and interviews with authors(see the interview with Paolo Coelho on his blog) whith Seth has some fantastic books besides his shorts posts..Have you ever read something from him? Tribes, The Purple Cow etc?

                      Cheers,
                      Radu

                    • Samuel

                      Hey Radu,

No man. Haven’t heard of Chris Brogan before nor of Seth Godin. I think I might of heard of Seth Godin maybe! :)

I am going to look at Chris’s blog more and try to read the books you mentioned! Also Seth Godin too. :)

I love copyblogger and hope to get a guest post to them soon. :) They might be my fav!

I can’t wait to be like them and help other achieve success! With hard work, this is possible!

                      Thanks, Radu!

Currently I base all my websites and blog posts on research I have done on Yahoo Answers. The more people ask the same questions over and over again the higher is chance that no one has answered this question via blog posts so everyone ca find it.
Thanks for other ideas, hope I won’t run out of ideas anytime soon! :)

      Hey Eleonora,

And yes, thanks for the comment.

Radu, what a great resource list. Writing content can be difficult for some because I feel they think to much into it. Thing that you already know that that seem easy, somebody else make be looking for how to do just that. Thanks for all these great resources.

    • http://radudascalul.com/blog-effectively/ Radu

      Hey Ryan,
Over thinking can be dangerous sometimes..you loose yourself in ideas and concepts while missing the more important thing : get the post done :)

By simply browsing in the internet, you will surely find some great contents that will inspire you in making your own blog post. As what I’ve read from a blogger, he told to his readers that trying to communicate with other people is the best way for him to get his next blog post idea. I guess it’s totally true.

    • http://radudascalul.com/blog-effectively/ Radu

      Beth,
I got lots of ideas from other commenting or simply by chating with other people. It works, agree. Other cool way is to get ideas is staying a little bit more under the shower :)
Thank you for sharing your thoughts here.
      Best,
      Radu

Radu: True, being active on other blogs and communities is probably the best source for new blogging ideas :)

          Beth,
More minds put together have an incredibile potential..the part I like the most is that you don’t have to force ideas to come..they just pop out as you talk with others.

          Thanks again :)

I always try to put myself in the shoes of my potential readers. “what would they want to learn more about” and then go from there. Browsing blogs and other sites are always great ways to spark new ideas. The amount of ideas are literally endless!

    • http://radudascalul.com/blog-leads/ Radu

      Hey Brock buddy :)
The internet is like a “galaxy” of ideas..just the big dogs in the IM+ MLM arena provide tons of good content..our job is to pick the most relevant and useful for our readers and take action on them.
I love your approach..more emotional intelligence! The more we study our readers and their needs the easier is to come up with stuff that actually get shares, comments, sales etc.

Thanks for your support Brock :)
      Cheers,
      Radu

    • Janet Callaway

Brock, aloha. One of the things I have noticed about your blogging is that you get ideas from everywhere. What I especially appreciate is the way you tie in your adventures with your topics. One of my favorite blogs of yours is the video of you and your Mom on the climb. Just fantastic. Aloha. Janet

      Hey Shirley,
It’s my pleasure. I love to provide as much value as possible and it’s even better when people like it+ take advantage of it.
Well said, the comments and discussions generated by a post are good indicators of what people enjoy..thus we’ll be more able to share relevant things.

I appreciate you for supporting this post in the blogging tips 101 contest:)

  • http://adriennesmith.net Adrienne

That is a really great post Radu and to be honest with you, after everyone has read this post there should never ever be another excuse of running out of ideas to blog about.

I have one more to add to that list though. I wrote my post yesterday around the Tynt tool that you can add to your site for content copying. But the thing that’s great about this service is that it will give you the keywords people are copying from your site to go find content elsewhere. Bingo… New post ideas right there. You never want your readers going other places to locate more information.

Thanks Radu and congratulations on the blogging contest. I had no idea you were doing this so you should have let me know sooner. I would have been more than happy to help you out. Oh well, I’m here now!

    ~Adrienne

    • http://radudascalul.com/blog-leads/ Radu

      Hey Adrienne,
It’s great to see you here :) Well, from all this abundance of ideas each of us can use “a slice of pie” in a unique way.
I’m happy that I read your post about Tynt last night. Now the people who read this will benefit from it too. Backlinks and keywords as a source of ideas. Sweat :)

Well, the post was approved 3 days ago, so it’s not too much time.
Adrienne, I highly appreciate the thoughtful comment and also for supporting me in the contest. You rock!

Look forward to see you in the next big contest this year :) Like MLM blogs for example.

      Thanks for stopping by,
      Radu

        Hey Janet again,
Well, the contest started for me on february 8 th when the post was accepted. But even now the support you and Adrienne offered is more than welcome.
That tynt tools is great isn’t it ? :) backlinks, more visibility and a clear picture on who is coming on your blog. How cool is that :)

  • Barry Ranns

    Hi Radu,
Great post, mate, a subject I blogged about recently too. We all get those days where we sit at the keyboard and have a blank screen and an empty head and inspiration is succumbing to desperation.

If I am really struggling, I visit my favourite blogs, and read comments. I am guaranteed to find a nugget of an idea there.

We sometimes need to develop lateral thinking to take us further than the basic concept and think outside the box. Almost like the psychiatric question answer session, you know ‘If I say this what do you think of’.’

The big thing I emphasise is, get ideas, expand those ideas but don’t plagiarise,

    awesome post my friend,

    Barry

    • http://radudascalul.com/blog-leads/ Radu

      Hey Barry,
      Awesome! A little syncronicity here:)
I experienced those type of days for a couple of times..at first I resisted a lot and even became angry because I couldn’t come up with a post..fast..In time I learned to honor this “mental break” and be grateful for the silence:) Acting like this I got ideas again more naturally.

Some good blogs or simply few moments of relaxation are great to get back in the game of creating posts.
Agree, there are plenty of ideas and ways to combine them in a pretty original way. After all, we work with the same material..we just have to adapt it to our unique personality :)

I appreciate your valuable comment my friend. Look forward to network more with you!
      Cheers,
      Radu

Thanks a lo for sharing all these tips) I think that the most effective is, of course, guest blogging.

    • http://radudascalul.com/blog-leads/ Radu

      Hey Melissa,
Guest posting is useful from many points of view..not only for saving you in the “bad days” :) but also for building backlinks, attracting new readers, JV partners and so on.

A list of posts you frequently read or used as a source of inspiration for your posts is always appreciated by readers, more clarity and details. Great for improving organic and referral traffic.

    • http://radudascalul.com/improve-your-blog/ Radu

Lists are comprehensive are can cover a topic in more detail..that’s why there are still many folks who use them.

  • http://www.ramblingsofawahm.com Allie

    Radu,

This list is pretty much all inclusive. :-) You hit it all.

My favorite way to get content is #11, comments. As a matter of fact your comment on my blog post here at ProBlogging Success really inspired me. I love the way you see things. Failure is just a mindset, you said. Which means it is all up to you to decide what your own failure is. I love it!

The other way I get content is basically if I have questions, I research for the answers then blog about it. That way I know I am versed in what I am talking about and can answer questions and keep conversations going on my own blog.

    ~Allie

    • http://radudascalul.com/improve-your-blog/ Radu

      Hey Allie,
Commenting is one of the strategies I love the most:) It can generate great ideas but also as you said, a good comment can “inspire” somebody to want to know you better. Priceless thing…
Glad that what you enjoyed was in my mind at that time :) Good posts inspire good comments!

Thanks for commenting on my post as well and leaving some nice tips for the other readers.
      Wish you all the best,
      Radu

    • Janet Callaway

Allie, aloha. Asking questions and then answering is great way to generate blog content.

Like you, comments is my favorite also–either making or reading them works for me.

Best wishes for a terrific week ahead. Aloha. Janet

  • Chante

Radu this is an excellent post! Anytime that I get an idea in my head, I like to jot it down immediately in a notepad that I always keep handy on me under a section named “blog post topics”.

You’ve mentioned some pretty amazing ways here to keep on track with always coming up with content.

Thanks for the amazing ideas, I’ll be adding a few of these to my strategy.

    All the best,

    Hi, Radu,

What a WOW list of ideas! You are definitely helping a lot of new or even seasoned bloggers.

I also believe in the use of technology to enhance our performance. You have shared with us so many tips. What is left is for us to pick and choose which strategies to implement first.

  • http://www.trafficbeast.com Alan Cheng

    Hi Radu,

That’s quite a comprehensive list you got there!

I normally get my ideas from my experiences, friends from the same niche, forums and Ezine Articles. I think you covered all of them.

This is good enough to bookmark for times when our brains are clogged :-)

    • http://radudascalul.com/your-thought-matters/your-thought-matters1/ Radu

      Hey Alan,
Forums and Ezine Articles are really huuge :) so many topics and articles…What forums are the best in your opinion or work the best for you ? Curious…
Glad that I see another bookmark :)

Thanks for the comment my friend!
      Cheers,
      Radu

      • http://www.trafficbeast.com Alan Cheng

It really depends on the niche. I will normally do a search on Google for forums related to my niche and then sort it by PageRank using the tool SEO Quake.

This should give me the most popular forums for that niche in descending order.

        • http://radudascalul.com/home-based-business/yourhome-based-business/ Radu

          Hey Alan again,
I heard from SEO quake from Ian Belanger. Now from you..gotta check it out :)
This will make the searching thing easier.
Thanks for sharing the tool with us.

          Cheers,
          Radu

  • Barnett

I often use #10 when finding content to write for my niche. I find it very useful to find other bloggers in my niche, read their post, and then comment on them for it is like killing 2 birds with one stone. I get ideas to write my content and I get a quality backlink.

    • http://radudascalul.com/your-thought-matters/your-thought-matters1/ Radu

      Hey Barnett,
Couldn’t agree more..Blog commenting is an awesome strategy to implement. I think there is one more bird that you’re “killing” :building relationships with bloggers and who knows opening the gates for more sales or JV-S in the long run :)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts buddy.
      Cheers,
      Radu

  • http://informationhighwaycardandgiftshop.com Lou Barba

    Hi Radu,

That’s a really long list of ideas, and I think every one of them would jar something loose in the creative process. What I sell has kind of a universal market, so looking for a target is as easy as waking up in the morning. I write to entertain, except where I’m specifically selling, so all I can do is to put something out there that’s what I want to put out. If people like it, great! If they hate it, they probably won’t but anything…oh well.

    Lou

    • http://radudascalul.com/blogging/home-based-business-blog/ Radu

      Hey Lou,
Great to hear again from you my friend. Your stories are very creative and from what I saw there are more people who like them.
I love the fact that use them to qualify your readers and keep on your blog only people who can/have the potential to buy from you.

      Thanks for your comment,
      Radu

Good suggestions for bloggers that are not journalists, Radu. :-)

      Hey Catarina,
      He he :)
Well, they still can some of these suggestions though..a voice recorder/video camera is like oxygen for a journalist isn’t it? Also, Google alerts would be helpful for getting fresh topics for their articles :)

      Thanks for your comment,
      Radu

  • http://asksage.us Srinivas Reddy

    Hello Radu!
Your list of suggestions is pretty exhaustive and very impressive, I might add. All these would prove useful to any blogger running out of ideas. Even so, some might look at this and go, “Great ideas, but it’s too overwhelming! So many possibilities… that I don’t know where to start.”

To which I say, “Start with yourself.” Be curious. To me, blogging is about learning. The more you teach, the more you learn. So simply be curious, which is what I do. You’ll never run out of ideas. And this burning curiosity will connect you with all the right resources on the web.

    • http://radudascalul.com/home-based-business/yourhome-based-business/ Radu

      Hey Srinivas,
Wow, cool suggestion that I forgot to include in the list..curiosity opens new doors and opportunities will knock at the door:)
As Einstein said: “I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.”
Or: “I want to know God’s thoughts. The rest are details.” :)

Thanks for your comment and for the powerful reminder buddy!
      All the best,
      Radu

    Hey Radu,

Excellent value in your post here. I guess it does depend to some extent on what one blogs about and what the goal of one’s blog is but you sure have provided a comprehensive list for many bloggers here.

I often find just being very present and conscious as I am going about my daily routine, many topics for posts pop up in my mind which is why I always have a note book of some kind with me.

  • Otoabasi Umonting

    Hey Radu,

Wow! This is a very well structured resource for blogging ideas. I’ve had moments when I could hardly type out a word, and some moments when the words just didn’t stop flowing. As a writer, it’s imperative to have new/fresh ideas for blogs & books; but when one applies concepts such as the ones stated here, I believe it’ll go a long way to make things easier.

The more we get involved in the groups/forums we belong to, the more value we’ll get from them. Sometimes I write from what I experience, sometimes from what I see others experience. It’s a constant learning process, and when we align ourselves to learn more, we’ll keep climbing higher.

Thanks for sharing Radu; keep them coming.

    • http://radudascalul.com/get-targeted-leads/ Radu

      Hey Otoabasi,
Agree, even if you have enough ideas there are times when it just doesn’t click..I learned to respect that and don’t struggle to force..go do something else, relax, read more about what you have to write etc..the ideas will pop up at their time.

There is nothing more powerful than inspiration at a right moment..as you said, experience is a great source, more authentic and valued by others as well.
Exactly, blogging, entrepreneurship itself is a process :) Alignment..I love how the word sounds..very appropriate.

Thanks for taking the time to craft such a great comment buddy! I appreciate you.

      Cheers,
      Radu

Wow, you have shared a lot of information here, Radu! Yes, you will always find new ideas to write about if you use these techniques. I am going to start keeping a journal like you recommended – I find myself always thinking of new ideas, so I should write them down for later.

Sometimes I think back to the challenges I faced when first getting started with marketing online, and then I will get ideas from that standpoint – because sometimes we forget the little things that can be challenging when someone first gets started. Thanks for the very informative post! I’m sure this will help many people.

    Hey Radu,

Great post! I have or still use almost all of the sources you mentioned, to come up with new blog posts. My problem isn’t ideas for blog posts, it’s the time to write them :)

I feel that anyone who complains that they can’t think of anything to write, is just lying to themselves. There are so many different ways to come up with ideas for blog posts, as you have shown here.

Thanks for sharing this Radu, I will definitely be trying some of the techniques you mentioned, if I don’t already use them.

    Good luck with the contest!

Great Post Radu…bloggers especially beginners always struggle with content to write about. This gives them great resource ideas.

There are many here that I didn’t think of myself.

I would also encourage them to just start writing, and as they do so content will come through.

Thanks Radu! lots of value here

      Hi Kiki,
More writing comes through writing what you already now ..always one should start with the ideas/tools he or she has …others will come along the way.

    Hi Radu,
What a great list! I especially like #1 and #12 because both involve asking questions. I am a HUGE believer in asking people what they want and need to succeed.
I’ve always found, if you ask they will tell you… and it may not be what you thought. Thanks for this encompassing list… it will help when I’m struggling to find some content ideas.

And best of luck in your contest!

    Hey Radu,

You certainly covered a lot of ground in this post and have provided your readers with a comprehensive list of resources to get their creative juices flowing.

I use many of these, but will add more and I have bookmarked this post, so when many of my blogger friends tell me they don’t know what to blog about, I can send them to your post.

For me, I personally love to syndicate other people’s content and get so much new information and ideas from all the blogs I visit.

    Keep up the great work,

  • Janet Callaway

Radu, aloha. Truly an excellent list you have compiled. After reading it there is not need for anyone to be at a loss for a blog topic.

Radu, I do have one to give you–or, if you included it in your list, I missed it.

When I first started blogging I often was “stuck” for a topic. What I did then was pick up a book on my industry, open it to any page/chapter, look at the topic and then write about it in my own words.

Radu, it doesn’t matter the industry or the topic. Even if we were all saying the same thing, because we would be using our words it would still be different.

Think about it. If you were to ask each of your commenters to tell you 3 things that are important about blogging or building a business or ______, you would get as many different answers as there are people even though the topic was the same.

Congratulations on this tremdnous resource post you created. Wishing you all the best. Aloha. Janet

    • http://radudascalul.com Radu

      Hey Janet,

Wow, this is an insightful comment! I wrote about quotes and books but not exactly as you mentioned it. It’s great because your own words have more impact, more authenticy and honesty rather than just copy paste.

Agree, even if there are few basic principles in the blogging/network marketing industry, to give an example, there are tons of different opinions and approaches to succeed.

We are the same essence and yet aparrently very different. Cool paradox isn’t it? :) I guess this makes life so beautiful and abundant..if we all were the same, like the same stuff etc..things would be boring.
The variety is here so we can choose what resonates best with us.
Thanks for your amazing support and also for the suggestions here.

      Be blessed Janet!
      Aloha,
      Radu

      • Janet Callaway

My pleasure, Radu. This is an amazing compilation. In fact, there ought to be somewhere it could be posted so that every new blogger could see it. When a person is first starting a blog is when I believe they are most often “stuck” for a topic.

        • http://radudascalul.com/your-thought-matters2/ Radu

Yes Janet, I dedicated this post to those who begin their blogging journey but also to those who want more details about the topic.

Hi Radu yes I’ve started writing a series of posts on my blog about blogging for business and when it’s done I’m going to wrap them up into an ebook.

The first post was Why small businesses should blog http://awebsitedesigner.com.au/content-marketing/why-small-businesses-should-blog/ but one topic I’m going to spend a bit of time on is figuring out what to write about so this post will be one of the resources I refer to.

    Dear Radu,

What a fine job you’ve done in this article! I think this is surely one to bookmark and also print up. I have been full of ideas just by staying up to speed in the internet marketing niche blogs I read regularly, but love the idea of going outside to other arenas for more ideas.

I think we must always stay fresh and you’ve certainly given us some great ways to do that! Kudos, Radu!! This is a must-share article, no doubt!

    Best regards,
    Cat Alexandra ;)

    • http://radudascalul.com/your-thought-matters2/ Radu

      Hey Cat,
As you said, only by reading good blogs from your niche, it will give you enough ideas for blog posts. There is an abundance of info here online. We only have to research, adapt and keep what resonates with ourselves and our audience too.
Yes, being open to life, learning and experiencing new things as they come is a great source for ideas. Life itself will inspire us if we let it.

Thanks for your beautiful comment Cat. I appreciate you!
      Be blessed,

    Awesome List Radu,
you are spot on as always! I have found out that there are various ways of getting ideas just like what Ryan said only if we can listen or observe the need of our target market.
Personally, I find the use of my phone to record my ideas when it strikes my thought regardless of where I am. If we can just be a bit observant to events that happens in our daily lives (experiences), communities and relate them to how it can help deliver our message to our niche market.

Also, I like the use of google alerts, and youtube for certain keywords or information which I can create my own ideas from.

Great post Radu, always delivering values…. Thanks for the wonderful tips..

    kindest regards,

    kenny

    • http://radudascalul.com/your-thought-matters2/ Radu

      Hey Kenny,
Wow, this is such a well-crafted comment.
Ryan said it perfectly: be an observer everyday. Observe yourself first, your audience, the experience you have etc. You are a walking source of ideas :)
The recorder, phone or even a journal are excellent resources to carry out with you whereever you go. Inspiration may come at any moment :)

Thanks for taking the time to leave a great comment. I appreciate you Kenny :)
      All the best,

    Dude, awesome post!

I really like how you said that not having anything to write about is a lie. That’s the absolute truth.

I use many of these ideas for inspiring content ideas, honestly, I think the hard part is picking which post to write next! I have far more content ideas than I have time to write!

One of my favorite methods for for finding great content is to look at some of the bigger blogs in my niche, and then looking at the “popular posts” or “best of” or “most commented” section.

This gives me a good idea of what my market is looking for.

Once you have a content idea, especially if your idea has has been covered elsewhere, be sure to put an original spin on it.

There is so much rehashed, shallow, boring crap out there. Inject some personality, come at from a new angle, something, anything!

Always love your stuff Radu, keep on rocken brother!

    • http://radudascalul.com/your-thought-matters2/ Radu

      Hey Micah,
That’s a really good idea. Popular blogs with a larger audience come up with great stuff.
I like the mention about the original spin..We all can put some authenticity,no matter if it’s a borrowed idea. Our energy can be contagious..actually that’s what people are looking for online or offline.

Thanks for such a great comment Micah.
      I appreciate it.
      Cheers buddy,
      Radu

  • Jacob

Thanks for all the idea. Sometimes it is good to think outside the box and come up with content to write about. Excellent post Radu.

    • http://radudascalul.com/your-thought-matters2/ Radu

      Hey Jacob,
The ideas are always around us..the thing is to be open to them..when inspiration comes follow it..it’s the most trustwhorty resource you can find :)

      I appreciate your comment,

  • Pearly Quah

    Hi Radu,

This topic came to me at the right time. I am away from blogging for 4 months already due to some other offline business commitment and when I am back, wanting to type something but everything is just blank !

Your list reminds me that I am actually losing focus on my online business and that makes me running out of idea. Thanks for the wake up call, Radu !

Great article with great points :-)

    Pearly

    • http://radudascalul.com/your-thought-matters2/ Radu

      Hey Pearly,
That is some time..yet, it’s never too late for blogging or for starting something new :)
As you review your past posts and combine them with the new experiences new ideas will come uo :)

Thanks for your input. I appreciate it!
      Best,

    Hi Radu,

Well done with your great list here
and thanks for sharing it for free my friend
I love the way you made it clear for # 7
and I join the serious facebook groups now it’s getting boring with all the spammers, and you’re right
the ideas flows like birds around my head haha.

    About number three:
3.Quick tip: set your News Feed on “Highlighted Stories First” to receive only the most popular/engaging updates.

How must I do that would you like to expalin it to me please!

    Great work Radu,

    Sandy

    • http://radudascalul.com/your-thought-matters2/ Radu

      Hey Sandy,
Yes, join the groups where you enjoy contributing and networking with people naturally.
About the newsfeed: it’s very simple. You just go to your fbk, click on home and at the top of homepage you have an option called SORT and little arrow near it.

Click on the arrow and select “top stories” instead of most recent. That’s how you have access only to what it’s popular.
Merci beaucoup pour ton comment Sandy. Je t’apprecie :)
      ~Radu

Radu, aloha. Though you mention asking your readers questions at the end of the blog and creating posts from there, another technique is simply to ask your readers, people on twitter/fb if they have any questions you would like answered.

As you may recall, Adrienne, did that at the beginning of this year and she has written 2 or 3 posts as a result of those questions. She asked readers to let her know what questions they had and she would answer. People don’t have to post their questions, rather they can e-mail it so it is more private.

Best wishes for a terrific week, Radu. Aloha. Janet

    • http://radudascalul.com/your-thought-matters2/ Radu

      Hello Janet :)
It’s a wonderful idea. Asking questions On Facebook and Twitter especially if you have many friends/followers will offer you plenty of ideas. Yes, I noticed that Adrienne asks questions everyday that open up a more personal conversation. Bingo, relationship building at the same time :)
Thanks for coming up with another suggestion!
      Be blessed,
      Radu

Radu, aloha. Another technique I have used several times is to make a comparison between two things. One post I did was on how social media is like riding a bike.

A blog that I use regularly is primarily sports analogies. It amazes me how he comes up with the comparisons he does. They are excellent. Also, he uses great images to illustrate his point.

Until the next time, aloha. Janet

    • http://radudascalul.com/your-thought-matters2/ Radu

      Aloha Janet,
You are an unlimited source of inspiration :) Now we can make comparisons with almost everything. Yes, I found that running a business from home with all that it implies can be easily related to sport stories, art, movies. Other option is to compare two products from our niche, services, leaders and so on.
Thanks for adding so much value to our discussion with every comment you added.
      Be blessed :)
      Aloha,
      Radu

Wow you could have broken that up into 3 or 4 post. But I like the one stop shop deal here. Your like the Wal-Mart of blog content. Nice job.

    • http://radudascalul.com/get-targeted-leads/ Radu

      Hey Steve,

    Hi Radu,

thanks for sharing your insights. I have the opposite “problem”: I have plenty of blogging ideas ( I am not saying ‘too many’ of them because there’s no such thing).

As a blogger at times we all get stuck and struggle with topics on which we can write upon. What you have shared is a comprehensive guide on how a person can think about the ideas for a blog post, thanks for the share.

  • Aayna

This is a nice share. The ways mentioned here can be a great source of help for new bloggers and even to experienced bloggers. There always comes a time when you are blank on what to write which will be liked by your audience.I actually indulge in brainstorming which you have also mentioned as pointer 33. It’s a great way!!

This is one of the most comprehensive post I have come across on blog content ideas. I think using top article directories can really help a lot – i have never scanned ezine and other popular directories for blog content ideas, infact looked at the directories with this perspective. Thanks for this awesome article.

  • Wayne Melton

Nice comprehensive list of sources for ideas. Guess you could never run out of ideas to write about. I noticed there are no dates on your post or comments. I can understand that you want it to be timeless. I am just wondering if this is a recent posts with lots of comments or an older post that everyone else has read.

Anyway it was a nice read.
